First it was THE PRIME MIISTERS, then THE PRESIDENTS, and then KINGS & QUEENS.

THE DICTATORS is the fourth in the series. It will contain 64 essays detailing the lives of some of the world's infamous dictators going back to 600BC up to the current day. Iain Dale has made the selection and recruited an army of historians, politicians and commentators to each write about one dictator.

The book does not celebrate dictators but seeks to explain how they came to power, what they did and how they lost power. The book serves, as the subtitle says, as 'a warning from history'.
