Prices
All book prices are in Pounds Sterling (£); but next to these prices is the word 'Convert currency' hyperlinked to a currency converter for approximate conversion to other currencies e.g. £10.99 (Convert currency). If you order by credit or debit card, your card company will automatically make the currency conversion, and will display both the sterling charge and your local currency charge on your statement.

Ordering online
Our online order form is divided into 4 sections:
- Address
In section 1 you fill in your address details so that we can calculate the postage on your order. Your details aren't stored by us until you submit the order in section 3.
- Confirmation
In section 2 we show you the total value of your order and how it will be sent e.g. normal post or courier. You can opt for a courier service if your parcel is being sent by normal post, though there may be an additional charge. If you have a gift voucher, you can input the code in section 2.
- Payment
In section 3 we ask for card payment details, and when you press 'submit' your order is stored. If you'd rather not submit your card details online, you can print off the order form and post it with a cheque or fax it to us with your card details. You can also request a proforma invoice if required.
- Thanks
Section 4 is a summary of your order. You will also receive an automatic email acknowledgement.
Card security
We take security very seriously, and use Secure Socket Layer (SSL) encryption
when transmitting your information to us when you make an online purchase. Our SSL certificate has been authenticated by Thawte,
(www.thawte.com) the premier leader in Internet security certification.
However, if you are still unsure about ordering online, simply telephone or fax your order to us.
Postage charges
The postage charge for your order is shown in section two of the order form, after you have input your delivery address in section one but prior to submitting your card details. You can also get a postage quote on the shopping basket page by selecting the country that you wish to send the parcel to.
| UK |
Royal Mail: Generally, £2 per book, and up to a maximum of £4 per multiple book order. (For example if you order 3 books the postage charge will still be £4.)
As an exception to this rule, if the book you are ordering is particularly light, the postage charge will be less than the standard £2, and likewise if the book is a particularly heavy book, the postage charge may be up to £4 rather than £2. Any non-standard postage charge for a book will be clearly marked on the book page.
CityLink: CityLink is a guaranteed next working day courier service and costs £4.50 for a parcel up to 5kg and £6.50 for over 5kg. We will send your parcel by CityLink if any of the below criteria are met:
a) You specifically request that we use City Link (option provided on the order form)
b) The value of the parcel is £50 or above
CityLink deliveries are made between 9am and 5.30pm Monday-Friday. They do require a signature, so please bear this in mind when requesting CityLink and specifying the delivery address. Please include any special delivery instructions (for example 'leave with a porter' or 'leave with a neighbour' etc) in the comments box on the order form.
Orders for CityLink deliveries need to be placed by 15.30 in order to guarantee next working day delivery.

| Rest of World | Postage is calculated by taking the approximate weight of the parcel and working out how much it costs to send a package of that weight to your country by Air Mail. The system displays the calculated result on your order form before you submit your order, giving you the choice to accept or decline the charge. Where the parcel contains books of high value, our system will automatically quote a Courier charge, rather than the standard Air Mail charge. The threshold at which we quote a Courier rather than an ordinary Air Mail charges varies from country to country, and reflects the reliability of postal services from the UK to that country. In effect, the less reliable the Air Mail service has shown itself to be in the past, the lower the threshold value at which we quote a Courier charge. When a Courier charge is being quoted instead of an ordinary Air Mail charge, that fact will be clearly shown on the order form before you submit your order. You have the choice at that stage whether to go ahead with or cancel the order. |
Customs & Tax Charges
If the goods ordered by you are subject to a tax or other charge when the package reaches its destination, the liability for paying these charges will be with you, not with Harriman. Harriman has no way of knowing what particular customs and import charges may be in force at any time in any country, and makes no allowance in its pricing policy for such charges. For the purposes of customs and other importation charges, therefore, you assume the role of importer of the goods. Harriman will not be liable to you for any delay or failure of the goods to reach their delivery address because of the detention of a package by customs or other authorities.
